Air India

Air India is the flag carrier of India, headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana. The airline is owned by Air India Limited, which is owned by the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines. The airline is a member of Star Alliance since 11 July 2014. As of November 2025, the airline serves 87 domestic and international destinations, from its primary hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport, and secondary hubs at Kempegowda International Airport and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The airline operates a fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft, and is the second-largest airline in India by passenger volume, after IndiGo. Founded in 1932 as Tata Airlines by J. R. D. Tata, the airline was nationalised by the Government of India in 1953 and renamed to Air India following World War II. On 21 February 1960, it took delivery of its first Boeing 707 named Gauri Shankar and became the first Asian airline to introduce a jet aircraft in its fleet.
